A bold update for Heathers The Musical: Jodie Steele will return to her original West End portrayal of Heather Chandler for a limited run. After McKenzie Kurtz completed her final performance as Heather Chandler on Monday, December 15, the show welcomes Steele back for a limited engagement beginning Friday, December 19, with a closing window at the end of January. In the interim, standby Sara Al-Bazali will portray Heather Chandler on Wednesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 18. A permanent replacement will be announced in the coming weeks.

Heathers is currently staged at New World Stages and has extended its run for the second time, now scheduled through May 24, 2026.

Jodie Steele brings a broad range of stage experience to the role, including Elphaba in Wicked, Katherine Howard in Six, Blanche Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde, Shelly Parker in Bat Boy, Sheila in Hair, and Sherrie in Rock of Ages. Her acting credits span stage musicals, plays such as Roberta Kilgore in Picture You Dead and Diana in Filumena, and television roles like Lily Vernon in BBC’s Malory Towers, appearances in ITV’s Professor T and Emmerdale, and a stint in EastEnders.
