On Thursday, the Pantone Color Institute, a consulting arm of the design and printing giant Pantone, revealed their pick. Described as a 'calming influence,' Cloud Dancer, officially known as PANTONE 11-4201, is meant to offer a sense of peace in our increasingly hectic world.
They're calling it an 'aspiration for a future free from excess.' But here's where it gets interesting... Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, explained that Cloud Dancer is a 'discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity.' She further elaborated that this color helps us 'enhance our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.'
To celebrate this choice, Pantone is collaborating with artists. The first is Emiliano Ponzi, an illustrator, visual artist, and author, who will create a limited-edition tote bag featuring Cloud Dancer. The bag will be available on Pantone's website.
