Against all odds, the Minnesota Timberwolves crushed the Milwaukee Bucks with a stunning 139-106 victory, even without their star players! This unexpected triumph on Tuesday night showcased the Timberwolves' depth and resilience. Julius Randle led the charge with a remarkable 29 points, setting the tone for a dominant performance.
The Timberwolves faced a significant challenge, missing key players. Top scorer Anthony Edwards was sidelined due to a right foot issue, and leading rebounder Rudy Gobert was serving a one-game suspension following a flagrant foul. Gobert's absence gave rookie Joan Beringer a chance to shine, resulting in career highs in minutes (30), points (13), and rebounds (5).
But here's where it gets interesting: Despite these absences, Minnesota's offense was on fire. They made a season-high 22 three-pointers out of 43 attempts, achieving a season-best 59.8% overall shooting percentage. This was the Bucks' highest point total allowed this season.
Coach Chris Finch returned to the sidelines after missing the previous game due to illness. The Timberwolves' dominance was evident early on, leading 76-45 at halftime, marking their largest halftime lead in a road game in franchise history. They extended their lead to 41 points in the second half.
Bones Hyland contributed a season-high 23 points for Minnesota, while Naz Reid added 19 points, and Jaden McDaniels scored 17.
The Bucks were without Myles Turner due to illness. Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a strong performance with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, but it wasn't enough to counter the Timberwolves' offensive onslaught.
The Bucks were playing their only home game in a seven-game stretch. They now head to San Antonio and Atlanta after a 2-2 road trip.
